Pug (Margaret) Murphy was born in Urbana, IL, where her father was a civilian instructor on an Airforce Base during WWII. Pug grew up in South Central Minnesota, graduating from Mapleton High School and went on to attend Mankato State College where she graduated with a BS Degree in Speech Pathology. She served as an Educational Speech and Language Pathologist for the Lewiston-Altura Public Schools for 33 years and retired from teaching in 2003.
Pug began weaving baskets in the spring of 1992, when her youngest daughter was about to leave the nest. She began teaching classes in 1994. Pug believes that weaving is the most relaxing thing she have ever done for herself. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing bridge, golfing and spending time with family.
